The North Carolina Botanical Gardeninvites you to join us as we bring the healing power of therapeutic horticulture (TH) to Ukrainian military veterans and civilians.
With the help of Partnerships for Nature, NC State’s Extension Gardener program, and an instructional design team, NCBG has spent the last two years translating our Online Certificate in Therapeutic Horticulture into Ukrainian. We have provided online webinars, TH trainings, resources, and site-specific consultations at no charge to our Ukrainian partners.
As a result of NCBG’s training and support, six Ukrainian Botanical Gardens have started their own therapeutic horticulture programs for the very first time in spring 2024 and several more plan to follow in their footsteps. See how Lviv Botanical Garden has leveraged their newfound TH knowledge to create programming for displaced children, veterans, and civilians in

Our work doesn't stop there. Therapeutic Horticulture Program Manager, Emilee Weaver is on the precipice of traveling to both Armenia and the border of Poland and Ukraine in September 2024. Once there, she will continue her training and consultation work with members of the Ukrainian botanical gardens and numerous representatives from public gardens and clinical facilities from Armenia who are also interested in utilizing TH as a healing intervention. Join us for a free virtual webinar about our work with Ukraine on August 8, 2024, from 12pm-1pm. The webinar will be recorded and available on the NCBG website shortly after the event! Register Online. For the last two years, we have provided therapeutic horticulture training for practitioners in Ukraine completely free of charge. If you have found yourself wondering how you can make a positive impact in the lives of Ukrainians in war torn areas, but haven’t known how, please consider supporting our work offering these important services that are making a major difference in the lives of thousands of Ukrainian and Armenian families.
